WITH a Number One debut album under their belt, it might have been predictable difficult second album time for the boys from Chester. But they've just gone and blown all that away with an overwhelming opus of fine music. If not an official concept album, Six does run it's themes together and dodges between songs, musical sequences and even a narrative by Tom Baker, in a dizzying display of virtuosic musical arrangement. Lead guitarist Dominic Chad provides plenty of exteneded lead breaks and melodic counterpoint throughout, and the whole falls together so satisfyingly that one is almost tempted to dub this the Sergeant Pepper of Britpop. Perhaps it's time to start taking this band more seriously.
